Melton Mowbray hospice receives fun games equipment thanks to E.ON employee
Dove Cottage Day Hospice in Stathern, near Melton Mowbray has been awarded a grant from E.ON's Employee Community Fund, courtesy of E.ON employee Richard Hardy.
Dove Cottage is an independent organisation offering palliative day care and support to people living with cancer and other life threatening conditions in North East Leicestershire, Rutland and South East Nottinghamshire.
The grant of almost £2,000 will be used to fund a Nintendo Wii Game Console, as well as outdoor games and soft footballs to help people with Parkinsons Disease with their co-ordination. The donation will also fund a new treatment couch and a storage shed for storing wheelchairs and disabled equipment.
Richard works at E.ON's Sherwood Park offices in Nottingham and undertakes regular fundraising for the hospice on behalf of Oakmere Park Commanders Golf Club. He visited Dove Cottage last month to present the cheque donation.
Richard Hardy said: "I'm really grateful that E.ON is able to support Dove Cottage in this way. The hospice does a wonderful job in supporting people with terminal and degenerative illnesses.
"The Wii Game Console will be brilliant fun for many of the guests and that along with the other equipment will help enhance their time at Dove Cottage."
Chris Gatfield, Registered Manager at Dove Cottage Day Cottage, added: "Everyone at Dove Cottage was delighted to receive this very kind donation. The Wii machine is already being very well used and it's great to hear our guests having so much fun."
The E.ON Employee Community fund invites applications from employees based in the UK for funding of up to £2,000 for charities and community organisations that support education projects or vulnerable consumers.
