E.ON funds sustainable living garden for Derby nursery children thanks to employee
Whitecross Nursery School in Derby has been awarded a grant from E.ON's new Employee Community Fund, courtesy of parent and E.ON employee Clair Hatton.
The grant of £2,000 will fund new planting equipment and gardening tools to be used by the children to grow fruit and vegetables which will also help them learn about sustainable living and their impact on the environment.
Clair Hatton, Change & Engagement Business Partner at E.ON, said: "It makes me feel very proud to be able to present the school with this generous donation from E.ON.
"The new garden area will benefit all children and help teach them about healthy eating, as well as sustainability and the environment."
Clair handed over the cheque earlier this week, as the children celebrated the end of term with a tea party and wore party hats with a sustainable theme which they'd made in class from recycled materials.
Janet Mitchell, Headteacher at Whitecross Nursery School, said: "The children, parents, governors and staff at Whitecross Nursery School are delighted to have been chosen to receive a donation from E.ON's Employee Community Fund.
"The new gardening area will enhance our outside play area and hopefully instil a love of gardening from an early age."
The E.ON Employee Community fund invites applications from employees based in the UK for funding of up to £2,000 for charities and community organisations that support education projects or vulnerable consumers.
