E.ON’s employees in Leicester help make generous donation to Cancer Research UK

Having been named E.ON's Charity of the Year, Cancer Research UK has seen the first fruits of that partnership when they were presented with a cheque for £50,000 by the company.

The donation, part-funded through efforts by staff at E.ON's Leicester offices, will be used to help support their groundbreaking work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

The charity was chosen by nearly 2,500 colleagues who earlier this year voted Cancer Research UK as their favourite. As Charity of the Year, Cancer Research UK will provide a focus for the generosity that colleagues show in their fundraising efforts.

Claire Rowney, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Cancer Research UK, said: "E.ON's donation of £50,000 is a fantastic start to a year of fund-raising by the company.  The donation will allow us to fund one of our cancer information nurses, to provide a confidential service for anyone with concerns about cancer for a year.

"Cancer Research UK is funded entirely by the general public, and so without the generous support of individuals, and companies like E.ON, we would not be able to continue our vital work, helping to save more lives and achieve our vision to beat cancer."

Jeremy Davies, Director of Brand and Communications at E.ON, said: "I'm delighted to be able to present Cancer Research UK with this donation, which will help them in their work to beat cancer.

"The charity is close to the hearts of many of our employees and I hope we'll continue to make a difference in supporting them as our chosen charity for the remainder of this year."

E.ON will continue to work with Cancer Research UK throughout this year to provide a range of fundraising opportunities to colleagues and support those getting involved.
