With a strong London contingent through to the last sixteen, FA Cup legend Dave Beasant will be delivering the famous FA Cup trophy to fans as The Great Saves Experience, part of FA Cup Sponsor E.ON's Great Saves campaign, visits Westfield London on Sunday 28th February.
Dave Beasant, who in 1988 became the became the first goalkeeper to save a penalty in an FA Cup Final as well as the first goalkeeper to captain his team in an FA Cup Final, will make a guest appearance as part of an interactive experience that celebrates great saves. As well as having the chance to have their picture taken with The FA Cup, fans and families of all ages will have the opportunity to see how they measure up against a host of current keepers and former no1's when they're put through their paces in a series of exciting goalkeeping challenges, including:
- Testing their agility at the Crossbar Leap
- Demonstrating lightening speed and reactions in Shot Stopper
- Coming face to face with a ball cannon in Power Save
Current England goalkeeper, and Great Saves campaign ambassador, David James has already set the scores to beat, and after making over 800 appearances for club and country, the Portsmouth keeper has shown he can face the ball cannon and make great saves...blindfolded. The Great Saves Experience will be at Westfield London (outside Next), on the corner of Wood Lane and Ariel Way, London on Sunday 28th February from 11am until 7pm. To reserve your place, all you need to do is register at eongreatsaves.com and book a slot on The Great Saves Experience. Please note between 1pm - 4pm the event will only be open to E.ON customers. If you're an E.ON customer and haven't received an ‘E.ON Family Code' there are a limited number of places available. To take advantage, simply present a copy of your E.ON bill to a member of Great Saves Experience staff to get access.
E.ON customers will also be given the exclusive opportunity to meet the former England, Wimbledon, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest keeper, pose for photos and participate in a series of Q&A sessions aimed at giving an insight into what life is really like between the sticks.
The Experience will travel the country hitting ten city centres over the course of the season and forms part of E.ON's Great Saves campaign - an initiative designed to champion great energy saves at home and great goalkeeping saves on the pitch. Throughout the season E.ON will be rewarding customers as well as football fans and their families with exclusive football experiences in return for making great energy saves and, with the help of England goalkeeper David James, will be championing the unsung heroes of football - the keepers.
Phil Boas, Head of Sponsorship and Events at E.ON, said:
"This season we are celebrating great saves on the pitch and great energy saves off it. Great goalkeeping saves have played as important a part in the history of The FA Cup as the goals scored, and this experience gives visitors the ideal opportunity to gain a glimpse into the world of a keeper. Across the season we hope to enable as many fans and their families as possible to get close to the action and get their hands on The FA Cup."
