E.ON volunteers transform Coventry farm
As part of an ongoing relationship, more than 60 E.ON employees recently took part in team challenges at the Brandon Wood Farm in Coventry and put all their energy into helping the community while also growing team spirit.
The team undertook indoor and outdoor painting activities, and transformed the canteen by repainting the kitchen, storerooms and mezzanine floor areas, as well as creating an eye-catching Brandon Wood Farm mural. The work was all in preparation for the opening of the canteen as a business venture for the farm.
Lewis Ball, E.ON Business Sales team member, said: "It was a great day for helping the community, which also helped build great team spirit in the process. It was a very enjoyable day for everyone involved."
Jo Dundas, Manager at Brandon Wood's manager, was genuinely appreciative of what the E.ON team has achieved. She said: "I'm overwhelmed with what the team has done. I can't wait to see the service users' faces when they see the work E.ON has done, especially the new mural on the mezzanine floor area.
"The canteen team, were also overwhelmed with the new look kitchen and canteen area, and couldn't wait to come into the work the following day and organise their new surroundings".
Brandon Wood Farm provides opportunities for people with learning disabilities in Coventry to take part in outdoor activities and work with a variety of animals in a peaceful and spacious environment.
E.ON finds volunteering opportunities for employees across the UK, working with schools, older people and other vulnerable groups as part of its wider community relations programme. In 2008, E.ON employees spent over 13,000 hours volunteering in their local communities.
