West Yorkshire Methodist Hall gets insulated from above thanks to a grant from E.ON
Energy company E.ON has awarded Tingley Methodist Hall £3,500 to install an insulated ceiling to help improve the energy efficiency of the building.
The hall near Wakefield is used every day by various groups from the very young to older members of the community. It also provides a local facility to the National Blood Service for blood donor sessions.
The grant comes from E.ON's Sustainable Energy Fund which helps community groups and not-for-profit organisations develop sustainable energy measures.
The money will be used to install an insulated suspended ceiling to reduce the volume of the hall which needs heating and to save on energy costs.
Tony Jenkin Jones, Community Relations Executive for E.ON, said: "We're delighted to be able to award Tingley Methodist Hall Trust this funding, to help make the hall a warmer environment all year round, as well as reducing their impact on the environment and to saving on costs."
David Hemingway, speaking on behalf of the hall users, said: "This award from E.ON means we can progress with the ceiling which is showing its age after over 100 years and will not result in possibly having to close the hall for a period on safety grounds.
"The new ceiling will reduce our heating costs and help us provide better facilities for the community."
The Sustainable Energy Fund is backed up by a dedicated web resource which provides top tips on energy efficiency and sustainability and full details of how to apply for a grant. To access it go to
