E.ON’S STAYWARM STARTS SEARCH FOR WINTER ‘GRAND’ ENERGY TIPS

Top team's tips win mascot place at FA Cup Semi Final at Wembley plus tickets for family.

E.ON, one of the UK's leading electricity and gas suppliers, is looking for winter energy and money saving tips from grandparent and grandchild teams as part of its StayWarm plan designed for the over 60s.  The activity supports E.ON's commitment to helping UK families over this winter period.

Age Concern and Help the Aged research shows that nine in ten older people believe the ‘make do and mend' mentality could help younger generations weather today's recession1.   But with today's educational efforts combined with the environmental focus of many children's television programmes are the younger generations more energy savvy than their grandparents?  E.ON's StayWarm customers believe that the answer lies in sharing this knowledge across the generations2

The company is looking for the over-60s to team up with a grand or great grandchild aged between seven and twelve to write an energy or money savings tip each.  Tips can be submitted on eonenergy/grandtips.com by Wednesday 25 November.

The top 10 teams' tips will be included in an E.ON's StayWarm Winter ‘Grand' Tips web feature, with the nine runners up winning a family day out of their choice up to the value of £150.  The best overall tips from a team will win a place for the child as a team mascot at an FA Cup, sponsored by E.ON, Semi Final 2010 plus tickets for the family3.

Stewart Laithwaite, one of E.ON's dedicated StayWarm customer advisers, said: "As a granddad and StayWarm customer myself I think it's a great initiative to encourage grandparents and grandchildren to share their experience and knowledge.  My grandson and I have already given it a go and came up with quite a few tips between us that we think will save our family energy and money too."

E.ON's unique StayWarm product offers fixed price gas and electricity providing peace of mind for people aged 60 or over4. The amount a customer pays is fixed for 12 months from when they sign up, so there are no unexpected bills.
