E.ON’s Sustainable Energy fund helps Children and Donkeys charity go solar

Energy company E.ON has awarded £5,264 to the Elizabeth Svendsen Trust for Children and Donkeys for solar powered fencing at the charity's centres in Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Sidmouth and Ivybridge.

Each centre is home to specially trained donkeys that provide riding therapy for more than 150 children with educational needs every week.

John Akers, Chief Executive of the Elizabeth Svendsen Trust, said: "We're so thankful to E.ON for the funding, which will help us to buy solar powered fencing energisers at all of our five centres in the UK. At the Trust we're very keen to be green and this will be a great environmentally-friendly product.

"The fencing will help secure donkeys safely in their paddocks and the money saved by E.ON's kind donation will be a huge help, as all of the services our charity has to offer are provided free of charge."

Tony Jenkin Jones, Community Relations Executive for E.ON, said: "The Elizabeth Svendsen Trust provides an amazing service for so many children and we're absolutely delighted to be able to award them this funding, so they can harness a green technology and reduce costs too.

"The teams at the Trust are incredibly passionate about sustainable energy it's our hope that this award will make all the difference to them and to the fantastic facilities they have across the country."
