Huddersfield charity to keep warm for less, thanks to £1,300 from E.ON’s Sustainable Energy fund

Leading energy company E.ON has awarded Mencap £1,328 to help fund an energy efficient boiler at their Waverley Hall premises in Kirklees.

Once installed, the new boiler system is expected to not only save the charity money on its energy bills but also to cut the carbon emissions of the hall.

Matthew Jeves, Team Manager at Waverley Hall, said: "We'd like to thank E.ON for helping us to help the people we support and to reduce our impact on the environment. The funding means that we can now get a new boiler for our day centre and have money left to spend on other projects to support people with learning disabilities.

"The best thing about getting the new boiler is that it will carry on giving us more money to spend year after year."

Waverley Hall provides day care for more than 40 adults, arranging outdoor projects and trips for them as well as keep fit classes and employment support.

Tony Jenkin Jones, Community Relations Executive for E.ON, said: "The Kirklees Mencap team do an absolutely fantastic job in the local community so we're delighted to be able to award them this funding.

"They've already implemented a number of energy efficiency measures including double gazing and draft excluders, and with the new system installed, heating the hall will now be much more affordable too."

The Sustainable Energy Fund is backed up by a dedicated web resource which provides top tips on energy efficiency and sustainability and full details of how to apply for a grant.
