Bolton Rainbows are able to shine with the help of E.ON UK

Volunteers and children at the 43rd Bolton Rainbows have had a welcome donation to help buy craft material from energy company E.ON UK.

Lesley Crompton has volunteered with the group for over 16 years and is involved in co-ordinating games and craft activities for the Rainbow girls, who are aged between five and seven. Lesley works for E.ON UK’s retail business, branded Powergen, as a Customer Service Advisor and has been with the company for 10 years.

E.ON UK has donated £215 to purchase catalogue craft packs which allow the girls to participate in a wide range of artistic activities during their weekly meetings.

“The Rainbows group is for girls who are too young to be Brownies and I initially got involved when my daughters first attended over 16 years ago, and I enjoyed it so much that I never left,” said Lesley.

“It is so lovely to be able to keep in touch with teachers and parents and we all work together to ensure that the girls are able to take part in educational and fun activities when we meet each week.

“This is the second year I’ve received funding from E.ON UK and we really put it to good use buying catalogue craft packs for the girls to use. These packs save us a lot of time.

“We always encourage the Rainbows to be creative and they enjoy making things like Mother’s Day cards, decorated candles and also a fish tank.”

Powergen is part of E.ON, the UK’s largest integrated power and gas company. E.ON supports its employees by recognising and rewarding the voluntary activities undertaken in their own time.
