E.ON volunteers transform two Nottingham projects
Two teams of volunteers from E.ON UK, the company that runs Powergen, have been busy transforming two very different projects in Nottingham.
One team went all Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and redecorated the Alzheimer Society’s office in Nottingham, while the other team got a touch of the Titchmarshes and transformed an allotment into a classroom at Ecoworks in St Anns, Nottingham.
A team of 10 volunteers from E.ON UK’s Energy Efficiency Advice department, based in Nottingham, spent the day decorating two offices and a bathroom at the Alzheimer Society’s office in the organisation’s colours – yellow and royal blue.
Jade Kirk, E.ON UK’s Energy Efficiency Advice Manager, said: “We’re delighted to be involved in this restoration work at the Alzheimer Society’s building.
“The whole team thoroughly enjoyed the day and are incredibly proud of the work they carried out to provide the staff at the Alzheimer Society and its visitors with a brighter environment.”
Louise Simmons, Office Manager for the Branch Core at the Alzheimer’s Society, said: “The E.ON volunteers were really enthusiastic and we’re extremely grateful for all their hard work.
“The volunteers showed great teamwork which has helped with the restoration of the building, making it a better place to be and giving it a more professional feel.”
Another team of volunteers from E.ON UK also gave up their time to make space for a new classroom in St. Anns. Eight volunteers from E.ON UK’s Social and Environment department and Corporate and Community Affairs department, both based in Nottingham, spent the day clearing an overgrown allotment.
The volunteers made way for the classroom that will be used by the young trainees of Ecoworks and local disadvantaged adults and children.
Mark Owens, E.ON UK’s Corporate and Community Affairs Manager, said: “Everyone enjoyed the day and, in bringing both teams together, I think we’ve benefited by working in a completely different environment than we normally do.”
Claire Peeters, Community Events Development Worker at Ecoworks, said: “We were very pleased to host this team building day with E.ON and grateful for all the hard work that took place.
“Space has now been created for a classroom to be built to benefit many disadvantaged people in the area. The group demonstrated what can be achieved with teamwork.”
