31 October 2006 00:00 Central Networks funds young Arnold footballers’ kit and training in recognition of employee’s volunteer work
The newly-formed Arnold Yellow U-9’s Football Club had another reason to celebrate earlier this month when they premiered their new away kit, donated by local electricity distribution company Central Networks.
The company donated £250 to the club in recognition of employee Geoff Huckerby’s volunteering efforts at the club.
Geoff, who is a senior contracts executive for Central Networks, helped to set up the club at the beginning of this year and has been heavily involved ever since. He is a familiar sight at all the clubs training sessions and matches and acts as club secretary organising the team’s matches and producing their newsletters.
“The boys are all delighted with their new kit and have enjoyed trying them out at their league matches,” said Geoff.
“This is the team’s first season in the league and it’s started well with the team currently fourth in the league.
“The new away colours have been a real boost to our team spirit; they make the boys feel like a real team when they travel to matches and I’m sure the extra training resources will give us a better chance of success in this season’s games.”
Central Networks is part of E.ON UK, the UK’s largest integrated power and gas company. E.ON UK supports its employees by recognising and rewarding the voluntary activities undertaken in their own time.
