18 July 2006 00:00 Central Networks carrying out emergency cable repairs in Kidderminster, warns of some traffic disruption
Central Networks, the electricity distribution company for central England, is carrying out emergency repairs on an underground cable fault at the junction of Stourport Road and Goldthorn Road starting today (JULY 18).
Following consultation with the local Highways Authority and the Police, work on the cable began at 9am today and is expected to take a week. Goldthorn Road will be closed for the duration of the work.
Mike Lamming, Project Manager with Central Networks, said: “This work is absolutely necessary to ensure that we maintain a reliable electricity supply for the area.
“We apologise for the inconvenience to road users, but I can assure local people that we’re working very closely with the Police and the Highways Authority to ensure we can to keep traffic disruption to a minimum.”
Central Networks, which is a part of E.ON UK, has installed temporary traffic lights at the junction of Stourbridge Road and Goldthorn Road, where the engineers will be working.
