28 June 2006 00:00 Central Networks helps Dorridge Junior School celebrate its 50th birthday in style

Central Networks, the electricity distribution company for central England, has stepped in to ensure that Dorridge Junior School’s 50th year celebration will be a rock n’ roll party to remember.

The electricity company, which is part of E.ON UK, will provide a generator to power the P.A. for the Queen tribute band, Killer Queen, the event’s main attraction.

The Warwickshire School’s Party in the Park will take place on Saturday July 1st and is a celebration for everyone who has been involved with the school over the past 50 years.

Steve Veitch, Work Planning Co-ordinator for Central Networks, said: “We’re delighted to help out for the school’s special event. Dorridge Junior School is a focal point of the local community and this party is a fun and exciting way of celebrating the positive impact that it has had over the last five decades.”

The company offered to help after a request from Mark Routledge, former chair of the Dorridge Junior School PTA and an employee of E.ON UK.

Steve Taylor, Head Teacher at Dorridge Junior School, said: “We’re very grateful that Central Networks was able to help out on such short notice and with their help we expect to throw a party that people will be talking about for quite some time.”

In addition to providing the party with a power supply, Central Networks’ Power Discovery Truck will also be rolling up at the event. The electricity safety vehicle is designed to teach children about the dangers of playing near electricity.

“Safety is a big priority for us and the Power Discovery Truck will offer an interactive and entertaining way for us to get our safety messages across to children at the party,” said Steve.

The brightly painted truck is fitted out with a range of activities designed to make it fun and exciting for visiting youngsters to learn important electricity safety lessons.
