Central Networks Press Releases

24 May 2006 00:00 Central Networks – it does exactly what it says on the van

Central Networks, the electricity distribution company for central England, is letting its customers know exactly what it does by spelling it out on its fleet of vans and trucks.

Central Networks has added the tag line ‘distributing your electricity’ to all of its trucks and vehicles.

Customer Operations Manager Phil Wilson said: “We deliver an essential service behind the scenes across central England.

“Every day our 3,000 staff ensure we keep the region’s lights on and, to help that happen, we’re investing £1.2billion over the next four years to improve the local electricity network.

“But sometimes we find that, because Central Networks is a new name for an old face, some people aren’t sure who we are or what we do.

“We believe that, by using this tag line on all our vehicles, we’ll raise our profile and ensure our customers know who to contact for information and support.“

Central Networks has 1,126 vans and specialist vehicles that travel on the region’s roads everyday.

Central Networks was formed in 2004 when owners E.ON bought Midlands Electricity and merged it with East Midlands Electricity to form the new business.

The company is currently delivering its largest ever investment programme and taking on hundreds of staff to support the work.
