Central Networks Press Releases

22 July 2005 00:00 Central Networks gets the goals and the pennies rolling in for charity

A group of Central Networks employees has raised nearly £1,000 for charity after organising a special five-a-side football tournament.

Ten teams of footy fans, including six from Central Networks’ Delivery Centre in Moorgreen, battled it out on the field in front of family and friends at Mansfield Rugby Club, raising funds for the Midlands branch of the Poland Syndrome Support Group.

Dave Burbidge, Manager of Moorgreen Delivery Centre, was one of the 70 Central Networks employees who took part in the event.

He said: “The tournament was a great success – we had a fantastic turnout with about 100 people present in total.

“Through the entry fees and raffle we’ve really hit the jackpot and we’re all delighted to have raised so much money for charity.”

The winners of the day were Moorgreen’s team of overhead linesmen.

Poland Syndrome is a rare developmental disorder that affects 1 in 20,000 babies comprising of the underdevelopment of some or all of the chest, shoulder girdle and upper limb on one side of the body.
