Central Networks Press Releases

09 February 2005 00:00 Considerate Central Networks walks away with award

The fact that safety is Central Networks’ number one priority has been recognised after the company received a prestigious award from Birmingham City Council.

Central Networks, the electricity distributor for the central England region, was presented with the runner-up accolade in the recent Considerate Contractor’s awards.

The awards recognise excellent working practices among utilities companies under the New Road and Streetworks Act.

Tom Shanley, Area Operations Manager for Central Networks, said: “Winning this award is down to the tremendous team effort and dedication of the Birmingham Central Networks team and the strong relationship we have built up with city inspectors and our contractors Norwest Holst.

“As a company, we understand that what we do impact on the local environment and we ensure that all our work is carried out to the highest of standards and with minimum effect on the communities we serve.”

The awards are based on the outcome of audits carried out by Birmingham City Council and its lay assessors throughout the year.

And this is not the first time Central Networks has won an award for its service. Two years ago, along with its contractor, Norwest Holst, it won in the most improved category.

Tom said: “I’m really proud of the team at Birmingham and we’re determined not to rest on our laurels. We’ll continue to strive to improve our service for our customers in the region and hopefully next year walk away with the top award.”

The presentation of the award took place at the NIA (National Indoor Arena) in Birmingham.
