21 January 2005 00:00 Central Networks’ safety website helps children to discover the power of water
We all know that water and electricity don’t mix but children in the Midlands can now learn how water is used to generate electricity and keep their lights on.
As part of this month’s update to the Power Discovery Zone website, youngsters can learn all about hydro electric power. The new factfile uses colourful pictures to illustrate how water can generate electricity to power our homes.
Anita Davis, Public Safety Advisor at Central Networks, said: “This new factfile really is great – children can access it at school or at home, for help with school projects or just for fun.”
Other updates to the site include new jokes, electricity questions and answers, and a new poll of month – aiming to find out if we have any budding inventors across the Midlands region.
“This site is designed for children, we want them to learn important lessons about electricity and safety around electricity in a fun and interesting way – and these updates are great for keeping the site fresh and the kids logging on,” said Anita.
The website is designed to support Central Networks Power Discovery Bus and Truck which visits local schools where staff can teach pupils about electricity and electrical safety.
“Anyone who would like the bus or truck to visit a school, safety event or show can visit www.powerdiscoveryzone.com and follow the directions in the Teacher’s Zone,” said Anita.
