13 December 2004 00:00 Central Networks encourages Midlands school children to check out its updated safety website
Youngsters looking for some festive fun will be able to log onto Central Networks’ Power Discovery Zone website and possibly win themselves an early Christmas present.
Budding scientists across the region will have the chance to win an illustrated book all about the scientists who have changed our world, learning interesting facts such as how a young Isaac Newton caused the first ever UFO scare while flying a home-made paper lantern.
And, getting in the festive spirit, the website’s new poll gives children the chance to vote on whether they have their Christmas lights up at home yet.
David Welbourne, Public Safety Advisor at Central Networks, said: “The Power Discovery Zone is a great opportunity for children to learn important lessons about safety around electricity in a fun and interesting way.
“As well as the latest updates there are lots of areas to explore on the site – games, jokes, power projects and a safety spotter where kids can spot dangers in real life situations.”
The website is designed to support Central Networks Power Discovery Bus/Truck which visits local schools to teach pupils about electricity and electrical safety.
“Anyone who would like the bus to visit a school, safety event or show can call 01332 39 38 49 or visit www.powerdiscoveryzone.com and follow the directions in the Teacher’s Zone,” said David.
