12 November 2004 00:00 Daredevil Metering Services mum jumps 10,000ft for charity
A daredevil employee of Metering Services Ltd, part of Central Networks, the electricity distribution company for the East and West Midlands, has jumped 10,000ft to raise over £400 for charity.
Mum of two, Pam Heawood took part in a tandem parachute jump with a professional skydiver at Whitchurch, Shropshire and landed to a champagne reception.
Pam, who works in half-hourly data collection in Kingswinford, said: “It was absolutely fantastic, it’s impossible to put the experience into words.
“I’ve got the bug now, I definitely want to do another parachute jump and the next time I want to do it solo!”
Pam’s jump raised £417 and the money will go to Action for the Blind – a charity which offers support and advice to people who lose their sight through accident or illness.
Pam recently celebrated her 40th birthday and was delighted with one gift in particular.
She said: “I was given a voucher for paragliding and can’t wait to have a go at that as well.”
