24 September 2004 00:00 The Power Discovery Roadshow's a show stopper
Central Networks Power Discovery Roadshow is stopping off at the Malvern Autumn Garden & Country Show this weekend, bringing essential safety advice to both children and adults.
Visitors will have the opportunity to climb aboard two specially designed vehicles - the fun-packed Power Discovery Truck for children and the Community Safety Trailer for adults.
Anita Davis, Safety Education Officer at Central Networks, said: “Across the UK over 350 people, many of them children, are hurt each year through the misuse of electricity, so we really want to help everyone understand the dangers involved.
“By attending events like the Malvern Show we aim to get the important message across that electricity is normally very safe, but it has to be treated with respect. “
The Community Safety Trailer is a new exhibit that has been created by Central Networks to take electrical safety education out into the community.
The trailer covers a range of topics from safety in the home and at play, to safety in agriculture and industry.
The Power Discovery Truck is designed to appeal to children and once on board youngsters can watch a safety video and then have a go at computer games so they can put into practice all they have learnt. There are also cable samples, a plasma ball and ‘Hazard Valley’ – a large model landscape featuring urban and rural scenes full of potential hazards to spot.
