24 August 2004 00:00 Central Networks Power Discovery Zone helps banish holiday boredom
Children wait in anticipation for months for them to arrive and once they do they complain they’re bored – the summer school holidays are here.
Central Networks Power Discovery Zone has the answer. While the rain pours down, children in the Midlands can log onto a colourful website that has been designed to be fun while also carrying important safety messages.
The zone includes exciting areas for children to explore. The safety spotter teaches children how to stay safe around electricity and the factfiles include instructions on how to carry out ‘experiments’ relating to electricity.
This month, children can have fun playing the new ‘Spot the Danger’ quiz, which helps kids identify potential dangers when playing outside and includes valuable lessons and information for staying safe over the summer holidays.
Central Networks network and public safety manager Stephen Hennell said: “’This summer, children can keep away from harm and understand simple but effective messages about electricity safety which could one day save their life – all by logging onto the site.
“This month, children also have the opportunity to win an electricity project kit, which should keep them entertained for hours.”
The Power Discovery Zone is run by the newly-formed Central Networks, which brings together the electricity distribution business for the East and West Midlands in one company.
Youngsters can find the site at www.central-networks.co.uk or by logging on to www.powerdiscoveryzone.com.
