19 December 2003 00:00 East Midland kids log on to electricity safety tips
Children in the East Midlands can log on to East Midlands Electricity’s Power Discovery Zone website and get the latest top tips on staying safe around electricity.
The fun website, designed especially for children, is updated every month with new safety tips, competitions, cool fact files and questions and answers about electricity.
This month, children can find out how to stay safe in a thunderstorm and what to do if a friend or member of their family is electrocuted, as well as learning more about inventors and their inventions.
Jerry Carnell, EME Safety Adviser, said: “This month the Power Discovery Zone is full of fun interactive games, challenges and safety advice.
“Children can click on to the ‘Fact File’ and learn more about lightning in the East Midlands.
“Difficult words associated with electricity are explained in the ‘Jargon Buster’ and memories are put to the test in the electric symbol and in the inventors and inventions game.”
Children also have the chance to win a fantastic X-Trex radio controlled racing game by answering a question on thunderstorms.
Jerry said: “If children haven’t already checked out the website, now is a great time to learn more about electricity and how to stay safe as well as having fun too. Log on to www.powerdiscoveryzone.com for more information.”
