11 April 2003 00:00 THE WHEELS ON THE BUS GO ROUND AND ROUND...

As the summer months approach the East Midlands Electricity Power Discovery Bus continues to teach Nottinghamshire children about electrical safety.

The bus is a mobile exhibition centre and workshop provided as a free educational resource to local schools. It has been specially designed to teach schoolchildren across the East Midlands about the dangers of electricity, while also supporting the national curriculum.

It is a highly successful initiative, visiting 7,900 children from over 130 schools in the East Midlands region since its launch in 2001.

Jerry Carnell, EME’s safety adviser, said: “We are pleased that so many schools are making good use of this excellent resource. The Power Discovery Bus helps children understand the dangers of electricity and how to stay safe. “

He added: “The Power Discovery bus is part of East Midlands Electricity’s ongoing safety campaign for children. We have an educational interactive site that compliments the work of the bus – www.powerdiscoveryzone.com and we participate in local safety events across the region such as ‘Crucial Crew’ and ‘Safety Zone’.”
