30 January 2003 00:00 Snow and high winds affect 23,000 in Lincolnshire

The Lincolnshire region has been badly hit by blizzard conditions during the course of January 30.

As a result, a total of 23,000 customers are currently without power in the county, with the East coast being particularly badly affected.

EME engineers have been out since the first reports came in, and are currently battling to restore supplies. The conditions, however, are making it extremely difficult for the engineers in many areas.

Bob Taylor, Managing Director of EME, said: “I can assure all our customers that we’re working as hard as we can to get everyone back on power as quickly as we can – our engineers are out in the field and our call centre staff are handling hundreds of calls.

“Due to the bad weather conditions we’re having to work in, I cannot guarantee that power will be restored before tonight, but I can guarantee that our staff will be working flat out to get customers back on as soon as possible.”

The areas most badly affected include:
East Lincolnshire – 17,000 customers affected in areas including Mablethorpe, Alford, Skegness, Wainfleet, Wrangle, Friskney, Ingoldmells, Chapel St. Leonards, Horncastle and Tetford.
West Lincolnshire – 4,000 customers affected in the Grantham area including Dowsby Fenn, Bourne, Filby and Helpringham
Lincoln – 2,000 customers affected in areas including Hemmingway, Woodhall Spa and Ragby

To report danger or damage people should ring 0800 056 8090.
