08 January 2003 00:00 East Midlands Electricity scores a winner for charity
A six-a side football tournament organised by East Midlands Electricity (EME) has raised more than £3,000 for Cancer Research UK.
Seventeen teams from across the business took part in the charity tournament at the JJB Soccerdome in Derby.
Sarah Stables from EME said: "The event was for mixed teams and a goal was awarded for each team with a female player who played for at least five minutes of every game".
"It was a high scoring tournament, with more than 180 goals and, over all, the day was a great success."
In addition to the tournament, two raffles were held, with the chance to win a signed Nottingham Forest or Derby County football. The person who raised the most sponsorship also became the proud owner of a signed Manchester United football.
