Nottinghamshire school gets funding boost from E.ON’s Employee Community Fund

The first grant from E.ON's new Employee Community Fund has gone to Linby *** Papplewick Primary School for educational projects.

The grant of £2,000 will go towards the school's 2010 Campaign which aims to educate pupils about language and culture through performing arts. The donation will go towards buying equipment to teach music and dancing from other countries, as well as funding specialist experts to talk to the children.

The Gardening Club, which teaches pupils about healthy eating, sustainability and the environment, will also benefit, with some of the funds being put to an outdoor structure to help children learn outdoors and to keep project work and equipment safe.

Liza Greeley, Internal Communications Business Partner at E.ON, whose two children attend the school, applied to the fund and will be presenting the cheque in person at the school on Quarry Lane, Linby, tomorrow [Friday 19th March] at 2.30pm.

Liza Greeley, an active fundraiser and supporter of the school, said: "Fundraising at the school is always fun and really successful but, as a small school, it takes time to raise money for key equipment and I'm thrilled that E.ON is able to help in this way.

"Both projects are really positive initiatives which will also help to engage with many community groups and help develop the children's social skills. This really embraces the school's family ethos and provides support and enjoyable learning for children of all abilities."

Mr Condi, Headteacher at Linby *** Papplewick Primary, said: "We're delighted to receive such support from E.ON and this community grant will make a huge difference."

The E.ON Employee Community Fund invites applications from employees based in the UK for funding of up to £2,000 for charities and community organisations that support education projects or vulnerable consumers.
